What To Do:

Store Jewelry Separately

Store jewelry separately, either in a box with separate compartments or in a separate container. This is to prevent jewelry from scratching each other which helps to maintain its original beauty and value. It also prevents broken jewelry especially if they get stuck to each other often being stored together.

The container or jewelry box should be airtight to protect precious metals.

X-Lyn Jewels has small air tight jewelry bags packaged with every order, they only fit one item at a time.

Store Jewelry in Anti-Tarnish Paper

Ensure to store jewelry in anti-tarnish paper or eye-glass cloth. This helps with the tarnishing/ discoloring of jewelry and prolonging its original shine and delicacy.

Store Jewelry in a Cool & Dark Place

Turns out your jewelry does not need a night light! They love the dark!

Exposure to elements like light and heat tarnish jewelry. Keep them in a dark drawer or an opaque jewelry box to prevent light from tarnishing your jewelry.

We know you might want to showcase your jewelry as they are so beautiful, but for extended beauty and shine a dark and cool place might be better for jewelry life.

Regularly Wipe Down Jewelry

Use a cloth to wipe down your jewelry after every wear as sweat damages jewelry. It changes the color of jewelry making them look older than they are.

You can use eye glass cloths or ones designated for jewelry polishing. X-Lyn Jewels has individual cloths in every order.

Apply Jewelry Last & Remove Jewelry First

Apply jewelry after you have been fully dressed. Apply lotion, perfume, make-up etc. before you apply your jewelry.  Allow your skin to fully absorb them before applying your jewelry. This avoids damaging your delicate jewelry.

The opposite should be done when removing your jewelry. Remove all jewelry first to ensure the protection of jewelry. Sometimes jewelry gets caught on clothing, this can cause damage to the jewelry.

Clean Jewelry Using Warm Water

Gather a bowl of warm water, a soft brush/ sponge, mild liquid soap and your favorite jewelry. Gently wash the metal parts of your jewelry with the brush/ sponge.

Ensure each jewelry item is completely dry before storing.

What Not To Do:

Do NOT Expose Jewelry to Moisture

Avoid swimming, doing dishes, and engaging with water whilst wearing your jewelry.

After exposure to water or any kind of moisture, dry jewelry thoroughly.

Do not wear jewelry to the gym to avoid sweat getting on jewelry.

Consider storing your jewelry with pieces of chalk. Yes! Chalk! It will absorb any moisture from your jewelry.

Avoid Washing Beads

Clean Jewelry is essential however beads don't need to be washed often or even at all. Your beaded parts of the jewelry can be wiped with a damp towel/ cloth. It preserves the colors of the beads and the quality of the beads.

Do NOT Do Any Heavy Lifting

Avoid lifting anything heavy while wearing bracelets or rings. The pressure might damage or deform your jewelry.

This could also cause pain to yourself because it might bend out of shape and hurt you. Even something as simple as carrying groceries can deform your jewelry.

Avoid Sleeping in Jewelry

This is essential to prevent the jewelry from harming you and to avoid damaging the jewelry. This happens from you moving during sleep, even the slightest of movements can cause your jewelry to snag your clothes or your sheets.
